The Packers have won their last five games, which, coupled with two straight losses by the Bears, has tied them for first in the NFC North with Chicago. They have four division games remaining, so it will be important for the Packers to pick up this win against New York so they have a cushion heading into their last five games.
Based on last year, it would be easy to give the edge to the Giants, but the Packers are simply playing better than them right now. Green Bay has scored at least 24 points in each of their last five wins, with 24 also being the most they have allowed in a single game.
The issue for Green Bay in last season’s playoff game against the Giants was turnovers. They gave up the ball four times, with Aaron Rodgers accounting for two of those giveaways. He has cleaned things up this season, only turning the ball over a total of eight times, with six of those being interceptions. With the way the Giants have been playing recently, it does not look like these numbers will increase on Sunday night.
New York Giants
The Giants are in first in the NFC East, but they have had a rough time as of late. After a 6-2 start, the Giants lost their last two games before their bye last week.
The first loss came against Pittsburgh in a close game that saw Pittsburgh dominate the time of possession. They held the Giants to 182 total yards on offense, of which only 125 were accounted for by Eli Manning.
The next loss came in Cincinnati, in an embarrassing 31-13 defeat. Eli had no touchdowns for the second week in a row, and the Giants did not score any touchdowns until the end of the game.
Packers-Giants Prediction
The Giants have had an extra week to prepare for this game, but they seem to be going through a late-season collapse. Their weak division will allow them to reach the playoffs, but the Packers will take this game over New York.
